# Install Ophel Atlas on Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or as a Userscript

> Install Ophel Atlas from the Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons, Firefox Add-ons, Greasy Fork, ScriptCat, or sideload it manually from GitHub Releases in four steps or fewer.

Ophel Atlas is available as a browser extension for Chrome-based browsers and Firefox, and as a userscript through Greasy Fork or ScriptCat. The browser extension is recommended — it offers a fuller feature set, better compatibility, and does not require developer mode after the initial install.

<Tip>
  Use the browser extension version whenever possible. The userscript version
  has feature limitations compared to the extension and may have lower
  compatibility on some platforms.

<Note>
  GitHub Releases and browser store updates are separate steps. A new GitHub
  Release means the files are available on GitHub, but Chrome Web Store,
  Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Firefox Add-ons, Greasy Fork, and ScriptCat each have
  their own submission, review, approval, and rollout process. Store and script
  directory versions can temporarily lag behind GitHub Releases or differ from
  each other. Check the public listing for each store to confirm the current
  published version.

## Manual sideload from GitHub Releases

Use this method if you want to install a specific version, test a pre-release build, or install without a store.

<Warning>
  Do not install `*-cws-upload.zip` or `*-edge-addons-upload.zip` manually.
  Those files are maintainer submission packages for browser stores. They do not
  mean the store version has already been approved or rolled out.

        Go to [GitHub Releases](https://github.com/urzeye/ophel/releases) and download the latest `ophel-vX.X.X-chrome.zip`.

        Extract the zip to a permanent folder on your computer. Do not delete the folder after loading — the browser loads the extension from it every time.

      <Step title="Open the extensions page">
        In Chrome: navigate to `chrome://extensions`. In Edge: navigate to `edge://extensions`.

      <Step title="Enable Developer mode">
        Toggle **Developer mode** on (top-right corner of the extensions page).

        Click **Load unpacked** and select the folder you extracted in step 2.

      Firefox only allows temporary add-on loading through the debugging interface. The add-on is removed when you restart the browser, so you must reload it after each restart. For a persistent install, use the [Firefox Add-ons store](#install-from-a-store) tab above.

        Click **Load Temporary Add-on** and select the downloaded zip file. You do not need to extract it.
